Boudin and Cracklins in Scott, LA
January 14, 2016 KWBBRH
A recent deposition in Lafayette, Louisiana, afforded the opportunity to stop in the nearby Acadian town of Scott, Louisiana, for boudin and cracklins.
On April 12, 2012, the Louisiana State Legislature named Scott, Louisiana, the “Boudin Capital of the World.” Scott has numerous boudin shops and produces the most links of any other region in the state.
Two better known shops are Best Stop and Don’s Specialty Meats. The stores sit less than 2 miles from each other on Louisiana Highway 93 near its intersection with I-10. Come hungry, leave stuffed. Lunch doesn’t get much better than a Don’s boudin stuffed pistolette with links of sausage and boudin.
